Hearts have sacked Manager Robbie Neilson.

It follows a run of 5 loses in a row, and yesterday's 2-0 loss to St Mirren at Tynecastle.

The club have slipped to 4th in the Scottish Premiership behind Aberdeen, having previously held a double digit lead over the Pittodrie side.

A post to the Hearts website reads:

"Robbie has been a key part of the club’s ascent back to the upper echelons of Scottish football, delivering another Championship title, a third place finish, two Scottish Cup Finals and European group stage football in the process.

"This was an extremely difficult decision to reach, and we would like to thank Robbie for all of his efforts.

"A full statement from the Board of Directors will be released in due course. No further comment will be made today."

Pressure had been mounting on Neilson after the run of poor results, with some fans calling for him to leave, and an even larger number booing his side off the pitch on Saturday (April 8).

Anti-Neilson graffiti had even been spray painted onto the pavement outside Tynecastle last week, although that was widely condemned by supporters.

The Jambos are set to face rivals Hibs in a derby next weekend.
