Boy, 15, charged with drugs offences after death of schoolgirl in West Lothian

Police have charged a 15-year-old boy with supplying drugs followng the death of a schoolgirl in West Lothian.

Dione Melville, also 15 and from West Calder, died and two other girls were taken to hospital after emergency services were called to an address in nearby East Calder on Sunday morning.

The exact cause of death has still to be confirmed by a post-mortem examination.

Friends of Dione have paid tribute on Facebook with one writing, "Rest in paradise, my beautiful girl". , Another friend adds, 'sleep tight babe, love you loads', and her headteacher at West Calder High described Dione as 'popular' and 'ambitious'.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Police in West Lothian were called to an address in the East Calder area at around 9.50am on Sunday March 27 following a report of concern for a teenager.

"The Scottish Ambulance Service attended and a 15-year-old girl was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.

"Two girls, also aged 15, were taken to St John's Hospital as a precaution.

"The death is currently being treated as unexplained. A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal and inquiries are continuing."
