BREAKING: Bomb disposal crew spotted at ongoing incident in Edinburgh

An area of Princes Street has been shut off by Police, with reports guests at the Balmoral hotel have been evacuated

Police have shut off an area of Princes Street in Edinburgh, with a bomb disposal unit spotted in the area this evening (November 10).

We're also hearing reports that guests at the Balmoral hotel, next to Edinburgh Waverly Station, has evacuated guests.

In a statement Police Scotland said:

"Around 5.30pm on Thursday, 10 November, officers were called to Princes Street, Edinburgh to a report that a man was acting suspiciously.

"A bag was later found nearby and a cordon has been put in place as a precaution. Officers are in attendance and have called EOD."

The incident has caused knock-on impacts for trains, although ScotRail have now confirmed that all lines have re-opened.
