Body recovered from sea during search for missing Edinburgh woman Alison Campbell

The 50-year-old was last seen on Tuesday morning

A body has been found during the search for missing Edinburgh woman Alison Campbell.

Police have said the 50-year-old was recovered from the sea at Gullane, East Lothian on Wednesday at around 11am.

She was last seen leaving a property in Murrayfield Avenue around 3.10am on Tuesday and drove off in her red Toyota Aygo.

Officers traced traced Alison’s car in the Cramond beach area and a search was launched.

However, on Wednesday, she was found dead in the water after an identification was carried out with her family informed.

A Police Scotland spokesperson has said "There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
