A body has been discovered in the search for an East Lothian man, who hasn't been seen since the boat he was in capsized.

Kieran Cowan was one of three people on board the vessel, which got into difficulty on Loch Awe at around 4.40pm on Saturday August 17.

The other two men on board, who're aged 23 and 27, were able to swim to a nearby island and raise the alarm.

They were taken by ambulance to Lorn and Islands Hospital in Oban and later discharged, as a search operation for 23-year-old Kieran was launched.

Today a body was recovered from the water in Argyll and Bute, nearly four days on.

Formal identification has yet to take place however Mr Cowan's family have been informed.

Relatives released a statement confirming the news.

It read: "The Cowan Family confirm the sad loss of our beloved son and brother Kieran Cowan

"Kieran was elated and looking forward to welcoming a baby daughter later this year with his partner Lisa Reid.

"We are overwhelmed by the love and support from family, friends and the local communities in both Prestonpans and Oban.

"We ask that people respect our privacy at this difficult time and allow us time to grieve."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A joint Police Scotland and Marine Accident Investigation Branch inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing.''
