The body of a man has been found in the search for a skier who went missing in the Cairngorms on Friday.

Sam Burns was last in contact with his friends around 11.30am on December 13, but failed to return to his van, which was parked in the Cairngorm Mountain car park.

Police believe the 40 year old was planning to ski Y Gully or Diagonal Gulley from the Cairngorm Plateau when he went missing.

A body was found around 11am on Saturday 14 December.

Formal identification is yet to take place but the family of Mr Burns has been informed.

Police say there are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
