Blair Kinghorn Set For First Edinburgh Rugby Start Against Connacht

Teenager Blair Kinghorn will make his first Edinburgh start against Connacht in Galway on Saturday.

The 18-year-old starts at full-back after making his professional debut off the bench in Parma last weekend as Edinburgh went down to defeat against Zebre.

Centres Chris Dean and Sam Beard, scrum-half Sam Hidalgo-Clyne and flanker Roddy Grant return to the team for the Guinness PRO12 match.

Scotland internationals David Denton, Alasdair Dickinson, Ross Ford, John Hardie and WP Nel are still being rested following their World Cup exertions while the likes of Grant Gilchrist (groin) and Matt Scott (back) are injured.

Head coach Alan Solomons said: We have nine front-line players out. The cavalry will be back next week. However, we have a number of players on the injured list with Stuart McInally and Ben Toolis, for example, missing longer term.

The team need to perform strongly to put right last week's performance as Zebre was a game we should have won.

We dropped off too much after (the win over) Ulster. We gave away too many penalties and this week's challenge will be much tougher.''
