Police in Edinburgh have hailed the results of a day of action targeting the illegal use of off-road and electric bikes.

Officers carried out patrols in Sighthill and Niddrie Mains on Tuesday, leading to the seizure of multiple vehicles and several charges.

A 14-year-old was charged with road traffic offences and had his off-road motorbike seized in Calder Drive, where a suspected stolen motorbike was also recovered. An electric bike was seized on Niddrie Mains Road, with further enquiries ongoing.

Three 15-year-olds were also traced in connection with a fire and vandalism at a local school playing field.

And in a separate discovery, officers recovered a car stolen from Kirkcaldy last September in the Park Terrace area of Musselburgh.

Detective Sergeant Will Dickson said police will continue cracking down on illegal vehicle use, urging people to ride legally and safely.
