Woman fighting for life in hospital following five-vehicle crash in Bathgate

A five-vehicle crash in West Lothian has left a woman with life-threatening injuries.

Several other people were injured in the collision involving three cars and two motorcycles on the A7066 at the junction with the B792 in Bathgate.

Emergency services were called to the scene at about 4.30pm on Monday July 6.

Three people were taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with serious injuries, while one person with minor injuries was treated at the scene by ambulance crew.

The road was closed for around eight hours for investigations and police are now appealing for anyone who may have seen what happened to come forward.

Inspector Andy Gibb, of Lothian Road Policing Unit, said: "This was a serious collision involving a number of vehicles and we are looking for anybody who was driving on the road or witnessed the incident to contact police.

"One woman has sustained life threatening injuries and I would urge anyone who has any information that could assist with our investigation to come forward.

"In particular, if there were any vehicles in the area at the time that may have dashcam footage that could help officers, I would ask that you get in touch."
