An investigation's been launched after a baby was found injured at a homeless unit in West Lothian.

The 12 week old took unwell at Strathbrock Family Unit in Broxburn on Monday.

She was taken to Edinburgh's Sick Kids where she's currently in a serious condition.

A police spokesperson said: "A baby girl is in a serious condition at the Sick Kids Hospital in Edinburgh after taking unwell at an address in West Main Street, Broxburn, on Monday night (May 30th). "Local officers are currently liaising with medical staff and with family members as they work towards establishing the full set of circumstances."

A West Lothian Council spokesperson said: "Emergency services attended a homeless facility for families in Broxburn on Monday, 30 May, after concern was raised for the health of a child.

"It is not appropriate to comment further at this time as it is a police matter."
