Attempted Robbery At Edinburgh Takeaway

Published 27th Dec 2015

A couple attempted to rob a Chinese takeaway on Christmas Day before fleeing empty-handed.

Police have appealed for help to track down the pair who demanded cash from workers at the May Sum takeaway on Craigentinny Road in Edinburgh.

A man in his 20s approached the counter at about 11pm while a woman stood by the entrance to the shop. Staff refused to hand over any money and they left with nothing.

Detective Sergeant Steven Marr said: No-one was injured as a result of this attempted robbery, however I'm today urging anyone who was in the area and who has any relevant information to please contact police immediately.

Our inquiry is ongoing and at this stage there is no evidence to suggest that a weapon had been used.

However, we are extremely keen to arrest both suspects and I ask anyone who recognises their description to come forward.''

The man is described as white, about 5ft 7ins and with a Scottish accent. He wore a cream hooded jacket and a scarf partially wrapped around his face.

The woman is white, about 5ft 9ins and wore a black hooded jacket, pink hat and a white scarf covering her face.
