Attack on man in Edinburgh treated as murder attempt
The violent assault happened on Sighthill Avenue
An attack on a man that left him in hospital is being treated as attempted murder.
The 57-year-old victim sustained numerous injuries after being attacked multiple times'' by two men - one of whom uses a walking stick - in Sighthill Avenue, Edinburgh, at around 9.45pm on Tuesday, police said.
He was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where his condition is said to be serious but not life-threatening.
Officers are treating the attack as attempted murder and are hunting two suspects.
Both are white men, one aged around 40 and about 5ft 10in with a slim build. He has grey curly hair, a grey goatee and was wearing dark jogging bottoms, a blue top with orange arms and using a walking stick.
The second man is aged between 30 and 35 and is about 6ft with a gaunt complexion''. He has dark hair and was wearing jeans and a blue padded jacket.
Detective Sergeant Andrina Cunningham: This was a violent and sustained attack which we're currently treating as attempted murder.
We'd urge anyone who may have seen this, or recognises the descriptions of the suspects, to get in touch as soon as possible.
The two men were seen shortly beforehand talking to a woman on the grass near the junction with Calder Road, who we're also eager to speak to.''
