Man appears in court over woman's death on Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh

Police were called to the Holyrood Park landmark on Thursday

A man has been charged with murder following the death of a woman at at Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh.

Fawziyah Javed, 31, from Pudsey in West Yorkshire, fell from the popular Holyrood Park beauty spot on Thursday.

Police and emergency services were called there at about 9pm, but Ms Javed was pronunced dead at the scene.

27-year-old Kashif Anwar made an appearance at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday.

He made no plea and has been remanded in custody, with his next court appearance due in the next eight days.
