Police have arrested and charged a second teenager in connection with the attempted murder of a 16-year-old boy in Edinburgh.

The victim was found with serious injuries at Gilmerton Road on Sunday April 14.

Officers had been called to the scene at around 5.10pm to reports of a disturbance.

The injured boy remains in hospital.

Police said on Friday a 16-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder in connection with the incident.

He has also been charged with possessing a knife and is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Saturday.

Earlier this week, another 16-year-old boy was arrested and charged with attempted murder.

Detective Sergeant Mark Lumsden said: "We understand the concern this incident brought to the local community.

"I would like to thank them and the wider public for their assistance while our inquiries were ongoing.

"We are satisfied that we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and will continue to provide the victim and his family with the necessary support.
