Armed robber admits pulling gun on shop assistant in Edinburgh supermarket

The 43-year-old man stole a three figure sum from a Scotsmid store in the south east of the city

An armed robber has admitted pulling a gun on a shop assistant before cocking the weapon during a raid on an Edinburgh supermarket. 

David Taylor walked into a Scotsmid store in the South East of the city demanding cash at gunpoint. 

The 43-year-old left with a three figure sum but was caught on the shops CCTV footage.

The robbery happened on April 15 this year.

Taylor's sentencing has been deferred until next month.

Footage of the raid was shown to the court and the judge Lord Pentland, said "That must have been an extremely alarming episode for the complainer."

The shop assistant Aaron Blyth, 23, felt scared during the ordeal and was left dazed.
