Appeal after woman sexually assaulted on Edinburgh train

Transport police are appealing for information after a woman was sexually assaulted on a train from Edinburgh Park.

The incident happened between 10:45pm and 11:25pm on Wednesday March 20, when a male passenger on-board a service to Dunblane is reported to have blocked a woman in her seat.

He then carried out what police describe as a 'prolonged and repeated' sexual assault.

The suspect and the victim left the train at Stirling where he continued to inappropriately touch her, and followed her throughout the station.

The suspect's then said to have left the area a short time afterwards.

The man police are looking for is described as white, slim to medium build, with short dark hair, and wearing a green jacket and chino trousers.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the offence or who knows the identity of the man.
