Anti-freeze stored in aircraft shipping containers triggered a chemical incident near Edinburgh Airport on Monday morning.
Anti-freeze stored in aircraft shipping containers triggered a chemical incident near Edinburgh Airport on Monday morning. Fire crews from Sighthill and Crewe Toll, along with a specialist chemical unit, were called to a DHL depot in Newbridge shortly after 9am when a mystery vapour was spotted in the warehouse. They later discovered there was no danger to health and it's thought the vapour was caused by the low temperature. Incident Commander, John Hanlin said: "Our crews, wearing breathing apparatus, entered the area to establish the cause of the smell. "No harmful substances were found and the smell was thought to have been from anti-freeze on aircraft shipping containers due to the current low temperatures. "Two people were taken by ambulance to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for a precautionary check up."
