Almost a third of Scotland's adult population have had their first dose of the Covid vaccine.

Speaking before First Minister's Questions , Nicola Sturgeon told MSPs that 1,515,980 people in Scotland have received their first dose.

She said: "The fact that more than one-and-a-half million people have now received the first dose of vaccination is I think an important milestone.

"We've now given a first dose to almost exactly one third of the adult population and that includes virtually everyone in the top four clinical priority groups recommended by the JCVI.''

There have however been another 31 deaths of people who have tested positive for Covid.

But the test positivity rate is down again, today being recorded at 3.7% , that's a drop of 0.2% from yesterday.

768 new cases were identified in the last 24 hours.

We are also back below four figures in Covid related hospital patients with for the first time since the 27th of December - 967 today with 89 in the ICU - that's down by four.
