Alex Salmond to deliver address at Independence convention in Edinburgh
Alex Salmond will speak at a meeting of Scottish independence campaigners in Edinburgh next month.
The former SNP leader, who lost his seat in the House of Commons in June's snap election, will appear at the Scottish Independence Convention (SIC) on November 4.
He will join speakers including SIC convener actress Elaine C Smith and Robin McAlpine, director of the Common Weal think tank, at The Build: Bridges to Indy event at the city's Usher Hall.
Scottish Green Party co-convener Maggie Chapman, social security minister Jeane Freeman and former MP George Kerevan will also address the audience.
About 1,000 people have pre-booked tickets for the event so far, which will also feature performances from playwright and novelist Alan Bissett and singer Eddie Reader.
The organisers said the conference aims to build on the work that is being done all across Scotland to outline practical steps that we can take to build bridges between ourselves and those who are not yet supporters of Independence''.
The SIC is a coalition of pro-independence political parties and organisations
