Climate activists claim they targeted 60 SUVS in the city last night (October 3rd) - deflating their tyres.

The group, which call themselves the 'The Tyre Extinguishers' have regularly targeted vehicles with high carbon emissions in recent years.

Last night they hit vehicles in the Marchmont and Bruntsfield areas.

In a Twitter post the group said: "There’s no need to own a tank in Edinburgh."

And in a post to their website said: "These posh areas are in the middle of the city, with good public transport."

A police spokesperson said: “The deliberate deflation of vehicle tyres is a reckless and potentially dangerous act, which could put drivers and other road users at risk.

“Members of the public are encouraged to call us immediately if they see anyone acting suspiciously around parked vehicles.

“Drivers should also check their vehicle before setting off and contact police on 101 should they suspect their vehicle has been tampered with.”
