Three kittens have been found abandoned in West Lothian woodlands.
A find was made on Tuesday morning (November 1) in woods at Drumshoreland Road, Pumpherston.
The animals, which were identified to be around 10-weeks old, were left in a cage, and were found by a member of the public, who took them home to safety.
The Scottish SPCA is now appealing for information on the incident.
Scottish SPCA inspector, Stuart Murray, said, “The kittens are approximately 10-weeks-old and were found by a passing member of the public inside a cage abandoned in local woods.
“The cage was large and appears undamaged and, luckily for the kittens, it looks as though it hadn’t been there long enough to be exposed to the elements.
“The kittens were understandably distressed but they had no signs of injuries.
“We understand that people’s circumstances can change, but this is not the right way to give up an animal if you can no longer care for them.
“They are now at one of our animal rescue and rehoming centres where they will receive the care they need.
“If anyone recognises these kittens or has any information, we would ask that they contact our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
