Edinburgh boy raises more than £1,000 for homeless this Christmas

A kind hearted Abbeyhill Primary pupil has raised more than 1-thousand-pounds for the homeless this Christmas.

9-year-old Ruaridh Fordie has been fundraising for the second year in a row, this time for warm clothing as well as dog treats.

His very proud Mum, Emma has been speaking with Forth News: "His dad and I are bursting with pride as you can imagine, just his young age, he just took such an interest in the wellbeing of the homeless community."

"He's just kept going throughout the year, thinking of little ideas that it could it could do, and he's raised so much money."

We're just absolutely bursting with pride, the whole family, all his friends, teachers at school. Everybody's really proud of him."

"In two weeks, he managed to raise £1,300. We have over 600 pieces of warm items, thermal hats, gloves, scarfs, and Andlots of socks because he loves the idea of of giving warm socks. And £120 pounds worth of vouchers for hot foods and drink."
