53-year-old woman seriously injured in Midlothian crash dies

A woman seriously injured after being knocked down by a car in Midlothian has died.

The accident happened on Old Dalkeith Road near King's Gate in Dalkeith at around 7:05am.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and the 53-year-old woman was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

Police confirmed this morning that the female pedestrian passed away in hospital.

The road was closed in both directions at the Sheriffhall roundabout and the roundabout at Lugton Brae for a number of hours while investigations were conducted by Police Scotland.
