Police probe hammer attack in Fife with victim seriously injured

A man's been battered on the head with a hammer in a major incident in a Fife town.

The 53-year-old's in hospital with serious injuries after the brutal attack in Kirkcaldy around 11.30pm last night.

Windmill Road near the Royal Hotel was cordoned off as detectives combed the area for evidence.

Two men - aged 40 and 24 - have been arrested in connection. They were also taken to hospital for treatment.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 11.30pm on Friday, 17 October, 2025, we received a report of a disturbance in Windmill Road, Kirkcaldy.

"Emergency services attended and three men aged, 53, 40 and 24, were taken to hospital for treatment.

"The 40-year-old man and the 24-year-old man have been arrested in connection with assault and enquiries are ongoing."
