A 19-year-old man has been charged after two elderly women were forced from a car and robbed in south Edinburgh.

The 88-year-old driver and her passenger, 93, were approached by a gang of masked men while stopped on Robert Burns Drive, near its junction with Mossgiel Walk on Tuesday.

Police previously said three or four males dressed in dark clothing and wearing face coverings - drove off at speed along Robert Burns Drive.

The two women were left distressed and the Honda Jazz was later found abandoned in the Harlaw Reservoir car park.

The man is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Friday, 30 August.
