18 year old charged with causing death of Edinburgh nurse through dangerous driving

An 18 year old youth appeared on petition at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today (May 18) charged with causing death the death of nurse Jill Pirrie by dangerous driving.

Dylan Jenkin is also charged with failing to stop when signalled to do so by police and other Road Traffic Offences.

He made a brief appearance in private before Sheriff Pamela Bowman. No plea or declaration was made and the case was continued for further inquiry. Jenkin was remanded in custody.

His appearance in court follows the death of 33-year old nurse, Jill Pirrie, who was knocked down by a car in Kingston Avenue in the city last Thursday evening.

Ms Pirrie was making her way home to Ravenscraig Avenue, Craigmillar, after her shift at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
