Police are looking for a man and appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in Dalkeith.

The attack happened at around 5.45pm on March 30th at Bogwood Road in Mayfield, and left a 17-year-old boy with a double fractured jaw.

The victim had just got off the number 3 Lothian Buses service from Edinburgh when the assault happened.

DC William Dickson from Dalkeith CID said: “This was a particularly violent incident which has resulted in a teenage male suffering a double fracture which has required surgery.

“The bus he had been travelling on continued on its journey southbound and a number of people on that number 3 service would have witnessed this assault. I am keen to speak to any passengers who saw what happened and may be able to assist our enquiries.”
