11-year-old in serious condition after being hit by car in East Lothian

The incident happened around 3.50pm on Thursday on Haddington Road in Tranent, near to the Aldi supermarket.

She was injured after being hit by a BMW 120, which was travelling east, and taken to Edinburgh's Royal Hospital for Sick Children.

Police say she remains in a serious condition.

Sergeant Neil Inglis said: The driver stopped as soon as the incident occurred and is continuing to assist with our investigation, but we are also keen to hear from other members of the public who witnessed what happened.
