The host for the revamped TV show Blind Date has been confirmed by Channel 5.

Paul O'Grady, who was a close friend of the former host Cilla Black, will front the new show which is due to air later this year.

Talking about the opportunity to present Blind Date Paul said,

"I am honoured to present the brand new series and after speaking to Channel 5, I know the series is in safe hands. I can't wait to see if we can find love."

The original show featured three hopefuls separated from a contestant by a screen. Whilst the new show is expected to keep the original idea, it will also include some "thematic twists".

Cilla sadly passed away in 2015 but was remembered dearly by her good friend who gave a touching tribute to the TV presenter at her funeral saying,

"I've got fabulous Cilla stories because we just had such a good time together, you know, and whenever we went on holiday together or even if we went just for a simple meal, something always happened....usually to me."

During it's original run Blind Date matched three couples who went on to get married, with Cilla attending their weddings. Below are two of the couples with their children pictured in 1996.
