Dancing On Ice veteran Dan Whiston has hinted at a very exciting and unusual opening number for the new series of the show, due to start early next year. Dan's tease follows yesterday's news that the ice rink could be melting, which might cause problems for the celebrities.

Dan, who was partnered with Cheryl Baker earlier this year, revealed in an interview with us that as artistic director, rather than being partnered with a celebrity, he works with the team to put on the "big professional numbers" that the audience will see each week.

When asked about the ice rink melting, Dan hinted that contrary to many people's beliefs, it might not cause problems. In fact, Dan hinted that he might need some water in the big opening number he has planned for the first show on the 6th January!

"You're giving away my opening number, the one that I'm performing for week one," he exclaimed, "I can't give away too much, but it does involve a lot of water, that's all I'm going to say!"

Then, when 'Singing In The Rain' was mentioned, his reaction was, "Ahhh, could possibly be!" Looks like we'll just have to wait and see.

Last night, (18th December) saw many of the celebrities and professional skaters appear alongside Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield at the press launch of Dancing On Ice.
