Carla returns to Coronation Street but what secret is she hiding?
Not long now!
Last updated 7th Dec 2017
Earlier this year we heard the news that ballsy businesswoman Carla Connor would be returning to Coronation Street and finally it's almost time to see her on screen again.
Ahead of Carla returning to the cobbles on the 22nd December Coronation Street have revealed some more information about her return and it sounds intriguing, as it becomes clear that she has a secret she is keeping from her family and friends.
Carla, played by Alison King, was last seen setting off for Devon over a year ago, after her disastrous wedding to Nick Tilsley and how we've missed her! From her scowly pouts and her catty put-downs, to the drama that follows her wherever she goes.
According to Coronation Street bosses the surprise arrival happens after Aidan is desperate to raise Underworld from the ashes and gets in touch with his half-sister in the hope that she can help him.
Alison revealed how her character felt about this new contact saying, "She’s intrigued. She misses everyone but her first reaction when he asks her to help him buy the factory is, ‘Absolutely not!’, but then she starts thinking about family."
Alison continues, "Seeing him has made her realise she misses everyone and would like to see them and be with them at Christmas."
She goes on to say, "She has been able to switch off from the family, it has been a case of out of sight out of mind but now she can’t stop thinking about them."
One person who is particularly delighted to see Carla return is Roy, who she always shared a lovely friendship with, as Alison says,
"She loves everything about Roy, she would go and look at trains for a day with him, she gets unconditional love back from him."
Alison also admitted that she would be looking forward to working again with David Neilson who plays Roy.
Although it is good for some to have Carla back in their lives, not everyone is so delighted. Peter's his new partner Toyah starts to feel a bit threatened when his glam ex appears back in Weatherfield.
How long will Carla be staying around? What has she been up to? And does she still have feelings for Peter. So many questions!
Rest assured though, it's only a matter of time before all will become clear as Carla's first episode will be on the 22nd December and we've been warned to expect a more vulnerable Carla in the coming months.
Sounds exciting!
Don't miss Carla's comeback to Coronation Street on the 22nd December on ITV at 7.30pm.
