Coronation Street favourite confirmed for Dancing On Ice

Coronation Street actor Antony Cotton has been confirmed as the 11th celebrity to take part in the upcoming new series of Dancing On Ice.

Antony, who plays Sean Tully on the popular ITV soap, shared the news during a special message after Coronation Street ended last night.

He said, "I'm Antony Cotton from Coronation Street and I've got some really cool news. Dancing On Ice is back and guess what - I'm a contestant. I better get my skates on - I've got practicing to do."

Dancing On Ice bosses also confirmed the news on social media. Sharing a video of Antony breaking through ice, the caption read, 'Do you want Ice with that? Stepping out of @coronationstreet’s Rovers Return and onto the ice rink, it’s @antonycotton'.

And it seems fans were thrilled with his appointment, one wrote, 'This line up gets better and better!! I can't wait 😁😁', with another adding, 'Fantastic @antonycotton your going to be brill. Can't wait until it starts 😃'. sic

Antony has played the role of Sean Tully on the cobbles since 2003 and has become a popular character with fans over the years.

As well as appearing on a number of other TV shows, Antony took part in I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here back in 2011, finishing in fourth place.

Antony is the 11th celebrity to be announced for the 2018 series of Dancing On Ice.

As the show returns with Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, the likes of Brooke Vincent, Jake Quickenden, Donna Air, Candice Brown, Kem Cetinay and Alex Beresford have all been announced amongst others.

With Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean taking up the roles of head judges, Jason Gardiner and Diversity star Ashley Banjo complete the new judging panel.
