Pink has been in the music industry for many years, however that hasn't stopped her continuing to bring out fantastic music. The singer, whose real name is Alecia Beth Moore Hart is now finished the European leg of her 'Summer Carnival 2024 tour'. In 2023 she released her ninth album 'Trustfall', along with a deluxe edition. The album featured songs 'Never Gonna Not Dance Again', 'Trustfall', 'When I Get There' and 'Runaway'.

Here we take a look at how P!nk went from a teenager performing in Philadelphia clubs, to a super star with an attitude and a mother of two. P!nk has had quite the career, and she is still going strong!

Why is Pink the singer called P!nk?

Pink had a tough childhood as her parents went through a divorce before she was 10-years-old, and she found herself getting into trouble, however after taking singing lessons, at the age of 14 she began to perform in clubs in Philadelphia.

She started using her stage name Pink in the clubs, a nickname that she had apparently had for quite some time. While there are a few stories surrounding the reasoning behind her name many seem to stem back to her childhood when she was bullied and kids pulled down her trousers. Because of this humiliation she turned 'pink' and the name stuck.

According to a report, it was soon after that the film Reservoir Dogs came out and Mr Pink was the one with the 'smart mouth', so the name took on a different meaning.

How did Pink the singer become famous?

As well as performing in clubs, when Pink was 14 she joined a girl group called Basic Instinct, however they disbanded before releasing any material.

Two years later she formed the group Choice with two other girls. The group recorded one album, but it wasn't released and shortly afterwards Pink was then given the choice to 'go solo' or 'go home'. Choice broke up and she continued solo.

P!NK opened up about her career in November 2019, calling it the "longest-running fluke in history".

Her friend Sekou died when they were just teenagers, and she went on to say: "But the thing that I love about the song now, after all these years, is that I never get tired of performing it, and it's taken on so many different meanings over the years.

"It was about my grandmother at one point. It was about my dog. I've lost people, so it's always sort of fresh in my heart."
