Walter White voted the greatest TV character ahead of Tyrion Lannister and Homer Simpson

Breaking Bad’s Walter White has beaten Homer Simpson and Games of Thrones’ Tyrion Lannister and to the Greatest TV Character of All Time title.

Over 10,000 readers of Empire Magazine cast their vote via empireonline.com in a dual-headed poll to find their respective favourite movie and TV characters.

Clearly gripped by the story of the unassuming schoolteacher and family man who slowly morphs into a power-crazed drug kingpin, Empire readers voted Breaking Bad’s Walter White, played by Bryan Cranston, in at number one.

Heisenberg came out on top ahead of Game of Thrones’ Tryion Lannister (played by Peter Dinklage) – the acid-tongued, alcohol abusing dwarf and member of House Lannister who uses his intellect to escape the wrath of his own family.

In third place is the slovenly and lazy but highly loveable joint head of The Simpsons household Homer Simpson, as voiced by Dan Castellaneta for the past 28 years.

Other characters voted inside the Top 10 include The Doctor as played by 13 actors including Peter Capaldi and David Tennant, Mafia head honcho Tony Soprano (the late-great James Gandolfini) and Sherlock Holmes.

Over on the Greatest Movie Characters poll, Harrison Ford’s whip-cracking adventurer Indiana Jones topped the countdown ahead of James Bond.
