Inquest rules cause of Love Island star Sophie Gradon’s death
She sadly passed away in June 2018
It was sadly announced last year in June that Love Island series two star Sophie Gradon had passed away at the age of 32. Today (18th April), an inquest into the star's death was heard, after her parents asked for a delay over 'new evidence'.
The inquest revealed that 'she took her own life' after 'taking cocaine and alcohol' and that there was no third-party involvement.
Many stars took to social media back in June 2018 to share heartfelt tributes to the late reality star, with her Love Island 2016 co-star Zara Holland taking to Twitter recently to reminisce on their time together in villa.
Following Sophie's death, Love Island took to Twitter to release a statement, writing, 'The whole ITV2 and Love Island team are profoundly saddened to hear the news about Sophie, and our deepest sympathies and thoughts go to her family and friends.' sic.
Many people are now calling for reality shows to do more for competitors once they have become famous, following the tragic death of Love Island 2017 star Mike Thalassitis.
Many stars of the show also questioned the aftercare practises, with Dom Lever and Malin Andersson saying that more needed to be done to support them once the show is over. Love Island released a statement on the matter last month (March 2019).
Our thoughts are with Sophie's family.
