Pop star Shawn Mendes has got his fans talking recently after he posted two cryptic tweets. The 'There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back' singer has previously teased his new album, however could these new tweets be further indication that we are a step nearer to hearing his new music.
On Friday, (16th March) Shawn first posted a grey, textured image to his Twitter without a caption.
This was then followed on Saturday with another textured image, this time pale pink.
Fans have been quick to speculate on what these images (one of which has been pinned) could mean. Responding to the first image one fan commented with a gif, which had the words 'Explain Yourself'.
While another fans just commented 'SM3 SM3 SM3 SM3💘💘💘💘', refering to his third album nicknamed SM3.
Another fan commented, 'SM3 IS COMING GUYS!!!'
Whilst fans are very excited at the prospect of a new album, Shawn has refrained from replying to any of them and it looks like he is going to keep his fans guessing.
However, he has further fuelled speculation of something exciting is on the horizon by also changing his Twitter profile picture. The new photo is of some flowers which have the same background colour as the first cryptic tweet.
Then, it was only last month that Shawn began teasing his new album, which will be the follow-up to his 2016 album 'Illuminate'. He posted some photos of himself enjoying the sun in Jamaica with the caption, 'album soon come' sic.
Shawn hasn't revealed much about his forthcoming album, however last year the 19-year-old said, "We have like 25 songs, so ya, we have tons and I’m hoping to get another 25 at least."
Whilst we are still waiting on some album news, fans have been very excited recently over the prospect of a collaboration between Shawn Mendes and Liam Payne. Although nothing has been confirmed Liam Payne cheekily trolled Shawn on one of his Twitter posts.
The exchange started when the 'Stitches' singer posted a number of photos of himself during a surfing trip, writing, 'Lmao. Where are these coming from!' sic
Replying to his tweet, Liam wrote, 'Sorry man I took them ... couldn’t help myself 🤷🏻♂️'. sic

Rihanna
Remember when it was normal to expect a Rihanna album near enough every year? 'Rated R', 'Loud', 'Talk That Talk' and 'Unapologetic' were all released within 12 months of each other. However, she has been busy with Fenty beauty so we can anticipate a 2018 release to make up for lost time.

Cheryl
Former Girls Aloud star Cheryl is putting in 100% for her comeback album and has even recruited star producer Naughty Boy to produce a track (or two?). She took to her socials to share some exciting news which hinted that she was in the studio with her former band mate Nicola Roberts. Possible 2018 album? We think so!

Following his 2016 album 'Last Year Was Complicated' - a break-up album, the ex-Jonas brother has promised his new music in 2018 and a potential party album. Yes!
Selena Gomez
It's been a long time coming. The singer has released 'It Ain't Me', 'Bad Liar', 'Fetish' and 'Wolves' all in the last year and undergone a life-changing kidney transplant.
