Naomi Campbell has been found guilty of assault after getting angry at a paparazzo photographer and scratching his eye. The incident occurred in August 2009 when Gaetano Di Giovanni photographed the model walking through the Sicilian island of Lipar with then boyfriend Vladimir Doronin. The model reached an agreement with the photographer and charges were withdrawn, however it is alledged that prosecutor Francesco Massara ordered the trial to still go ahead.
The court was told how Giovanni needed medical treatment following the incident and then required three days to recover. Campbell was convicted of assault by a Sicilian court on Friday and received a six months suspended prison sentence. Her lawyer Guido Carlo Alleva said: 'We are appealing the ruling surrounding the 2009 incident. Due to the ongoing legal process, we cannot discuss the matter further at this time.'
This not the first time she has come under fire for her temper, she attended anger-management classes in 1998 after striking her personal assistant with a mobile phone and attacked police at Heathrow in 2008 over lost luggage.
