Kerry Katona tears up as she opens up about struggle with bipolar disorder
Her daughters supported her on the Loose Women couch
Kerry Katona has opened up about her struggle with bipolar disorder on the Loose Women couch.
She was supported by her two eldest daughters, Lilly and Molly, who she shares with former Westlife singer Brian McFadden.
The 35-year-old bravely admitted that during her time with pop group Atomic Kitten, she’d be sent on compassionate leave due to suffering from depression and added that she felt relieved when she was diagnosed.
The daughters said they didn’t really understand it at the time, being four and five-years-old.
Lilly revealed that when her mum felt down it was ‘quite sad and horrible in the house’ but when her mum was on a high the girls couldn’t wait to get out of bed and spend time with her.
The 13-year-old further admitted she had counselling when Kerry’s ex-husband George left the house, as she confessed it was nice to have someone around when her mum would hide herself away.
Clearly moved by it all, Kerry broke down in tears, saying "They’ve seen a lot and I’m so grateful, I’m so proud of them”.

Kerry also has three other children, nine-year-old Heidi and seven-year-old Mark with ex-husband Mark Croft, plus two-year-old daughter Dylan-Jorge Rose with George Kay.
Kerry and George split last October after being married for 13 months.
Bipolar disorder can affect around one in 100 adults and is characterised by episodes of extreme lows and highs, also known as depression and mania, which can last several weeks.
