Katy Perry responds to the Catfish episode about a man who 'dated' her for six years
The episode was aired last week.
Last week the MTV show Catfish aired a programme about a man from Indiana who thought he was dating Katy Perry.
Spencer Morrill said had been 'dating' the 31-year-old singer for six years exchanging thousands of emails and texts.
The show's hosts Nev Schulman and Max Joseph were amazed when Spencer told them he had been dating for so long, despite never meeting her in person and only speaking to 'her' once on the phone.
He had even spent 25% of his savings on an engagement ring for her, using his grandmother's emerald.
The 'Firework' singer has now responded in a US radio interview saying, "You know, like, my heart goes out to Spencer."
She explained someone had sent her a link to the programme but she decided not to watch it saying, "I felt bad for him, and so I didn't really like to indulge in that."
Eventually they tracked 'Katy' down to a Canadian woman living in Gloucester (UK) who apologised for stringing Spencer along saying, "I’m like genuinely sorry. I can’t change what I did, but I understand that it was really wrong."
