Eagles of Death Metal say love and peace will not be silenced ahead of emotional return to Paris
The band returned to play in the capital as part of their tour.
Eagles of Death Metal have opened up about returning to the stage in the French capital three months after the Paris attacks.
89 people died when three men in suicide vests with machine guns attacked a sold-out Eagles Of Death Metal show at Le Bataclan last November.
In an interview with Kerrang! EODM frontman Jesse Hughes and his best friend Josh Homme revealed the pain behind their determination to ensure the spirit of peace and love is never silenced.

Speaking about the band’s return to the capital, Josh said: “That gig in Paris is going to be the most difficult, gut-wrenching situation mixed with the most uplifting reach for the light that you could possibly imagine. It will be equal measures awful and unforgettable. It closes a circle that does not go away, but it encapsulates the moment.”
Reflecting on the attack, Jesse added that strong friendships and kindness stood out in the chaos.
“I didn’t see a single person run away. I didn’t see anyone leave their friends behind. I saw people dead because they wouldn’t do that. That’s the most beautiful way a person could die. That’s what I take from it – what an awful price to pay for something beautiful to see.”
Summing up the overall sentiment of the band, Josh said that the tragedy united people.
"Whatever the goal was to injure innocent people, it didn’t work. It did the opposite. It united people that were un-united previously, and gave a common cause that couldn’t be silenced. How could you silence it?”
The band began their European tour this week.
