Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman has died aged 43
He had kept his battle with colon cancer a secret

Actor, director, writer and producer Chadwick Boseman has died aged 43 after losing his four year battle with colon cancer. Fans of the Marvel actor. who played Black Panther/King T'Challa. were left shocked and saddened as the news was announced on his Twitter.
The statement read, 'It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman. Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage IV.
'A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall, to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson's Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapies. It was the honour of his career to bring King T'Challa to life in Black Panther.
'He died in his home. with his wife and family by his side. The family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.'
Chadwick played the role of Black Panther in many films in the Marvel franchise including Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Black Panther was the first superhero film to get a nomination for best picture at the Oscars and it was due to get a sequel in 2022.
His co-stars have been paying tribute, including Mark Ruffalo who played Bruce Banner/The Hulk.
Chris Evans who played Steve Rogers/Captain America in the Marvel films wrote. 'I’m absolutely devastated. This is beyond heartbreaking.
'Chadwick was special. A true original. He was a deeply committed and constantly curious artist. He had so much amazing work still left to create. I’m endlessly grateful for our friendship. Rest in power, KingBlue heart.'
And Marvel wrote, 'Our hearts are broken and our thoughts are with Chadwick Boseman’s family. Your legacy will live on forever. Rest In Peace.'
Chris Pratt, who played Peter Quill/Star-Lord alongside Chadwick wrote, 'My prayers go out to Chadwick’s family and loved ones. The world will miss his tremendous talent. God rest his soul. #wakandaforever.'
The Academy Awards also paid tribute writing, 'An immeasurable loss. From "Black Panther" to "Da 5 Bloods," Chadwick Boseman brought strength and light to the screen, every time.;
