Caitlyn Jenner, formerly Bruce Jenner, obliterates Twitter record after Vanity Fair cover
She reaches one million followers in four hours
Caitlyn Jenner has obliterated the record for the fastest celebrity to reach one million followers on Twitter
Last night, the front cover of the new edition of Vanity Fair shot by Annie Leibovitz was revealed showing Caitlyn – formerly Bruce Jenner – as a transgender woman and the name she will now be using.
At the exact same time, 65-year-old Caitlyn launched her new Twitter profile and amassed an incredible one million follower mark in just four hours.
That record smashed Barack Obama’s record of one million in five hours set just two weeks ago.
Currently Caitlyn has 1.87million followers although that tally is rising by the second.
The Guinness Book of Records confirmed the Twitter milestone achieved by Caitlyn and she even took time to reference the world record she set at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal in the decathlon.
Caitlyn told her vast army of followers that she felt a vast amount of relief after finally revealing herself as a transgender woman.
She wrote: “I'm so happy after such a long struggle to be living my true self. Welcome to the world Caitlyn. Can't wait for you to get to know her/me.”
Among those paying tribute to Caitlyn’s Vanity Fair cover was her daughter Kendall Jenner and stepdaughters Kim and Khloe Kardashian,
Other celebs who praised Caitlyn included Lady Gaga, Lena Dunham, Mia Farrow, Ellen Degeneres and Anna Kendrick.
