Amanda Owen reveals the challenges of co-parenting 9 kids
Following her shock split from husband Clive Owen
Our Yorkshire Farm fans were left both shocked and gutted last Summer, after Amanda and Clive Owen announced they'd split following a 22-year-marriage. The couple, who have nine children together, released a statement at the time, admitting they both felt it was 'right choice for the future of family.'
Now, as Amanda begins filming a new More4 documentary, titled Amanda Owen’s Farming Lives, the Yorkshire Shepherdess has opened up about the struggles they've faced co-parenting their nine children.
Speaking to Radio Times, 48-year-old Amanda said: "Look, there are two simple facts: if he thought I was brilliant, and I thought he was brilliant, then we wouldn’t have separated.
“It’s a fact, isn’t it? But, you know what, that’s not unique, it’s just how things are, pressures, all the rest of it.
“But we have nine kids, with associated friends, girlfriends, and we just have to get on with it.”
Due to filming, Amanda explained she had to carefully negotiate her time away, admitting filming for her new series was carried out in small sections.
She said: “We go for the three-day rule: three days is the maximum number of sandwich boxes and stuff that we can get prepared and the maximum amount of carnage that I can cope with on my return."
Amanda's new series, which will be her first without Clive, will see her visiting a number of working farms across the UK, exploring their innovative methods and the challenges of the cost-of-living crisis.
Speaking about the upcoming series, she added: “If you’re in farming and agriculture, it’s very easy to feel like you’re unsupported, even vilified. There are so many people pointing fingers.
“So it was actually really heartening to see how different people were making it work and how diverse modern farming is.”

It was in June last year when Amanda and Clive confirmed they would be getting a divorce, following 22 years of marriage.
Amanda wrote on behalf of the pair: 'Clive and I have are sad to confirm that we have made the difficult decision to separate. This hasn't been easy, but we both believe it's the right choice for the future of our family.
'Although we are no longer a couple, we continue to work on the farm and co-parent together with our number one priority the happiness and well-being of our children.
'We would like to thank everyone for their support and would ask that the media please respect our privacy as we work through this difficult time.
