10 things as old as a fresher in 2015

As freshers descend on various towns and cities we realised that the majority of students, who will be fresh-faced 18-year-olds, are now as old as the following films, songs, bands and games. WARNING, this list could make you feel old...

1. Spice - The Movie The Spice Girls appeared in their first (and thankfully only) feature film in December 1997, here they are at the premiere.

2. Grand Theft Auto The first game in what has now become the biggest selling entertainment game. Remember these graphics?

3. Teletubbies These weird jibberish talking creatures graced our screens and the theme song about Tinky-Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po became engrained in our brains. Here's a reminder in case you were lucky enough to have forgotten.

4. Maisie Williams The Game of Thrones star was born this year.

​5. Barbie Girl, Aqua Remind yourself of the lyrical genius that was this song.

6. Hanson 'Mmm Bop' You know how it goes...

7. Titanic The action-packed romance starred Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio and was set against story of the ill-fated maiden voyage of the R.M.S. Titanic. Just looking at this pic of Leo all fresh-faced makes us feel old!

8. Starship Troopers The American satirical military science fiction action film ​became a cult classic. It featured Neil Patrick Harris (Barney from How I Met Your Mother) and Denise Richards (the one with the lovely hair).

9. Steps In 1997 this five-piece group burst on to the pop scene and went on to give us '5, 6, 7, 8,' as well as reworking of the Bee Jees hit 'Tragedy'.

10. Harry Potter Yes it's been that long since the first boy wizard came into our lives! The first book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, was released June 1997.
