LISTEN: Grant Stott announces emotional Cash For Kids donation
Ben and Finlay are identical twins with severe autism and a learning disability.
A couple, who have been granted money from Cash For Kids have written to thank the charity.
It'll go towards keeping a programme going for Ben and Finlay who are identical twins with severe autism and a learning disability.
Listen to the moment dad Mike found out he'd been granted a donation from Cash For Kids.
The parents penned a letter to thank our charity Cash For Kids:
The boys take part in a home based behavioural programme that teaches them life skills, play skills, self help skills and communication skills.
In its simplest terms the programme reinforces and rewards good behaviours with the intention of increasing the frequency of those good behaviours.
It equally ignores negative behaviours with the intention that they will reduce and stop occurring. The programme is delivered in the boys' home but costs a lot of money to run especially for two boys.
It is a great investment though as we are determined to give the boys the best chance possible of reaching their full potential.
Cash for Kids have provided generous grants to enable the boys to continue their programme and continue their progress, which has been remarkable.
In the last year we have focused on compliance, communication and feeding with great results. For example, the boys previously had a severely limited diet restricting daily meals to one or two foods.
They now eat in excess of 40 different kinds of meat, vegetables and fruit. We have also confounded medical opinion and successfully toilet trained both boys in the last year.
Thank you so much to Cash for Kids for helping and giving us hope for a brighter and better future!
