Beneficiary Spotlight - No Limits
We funded £6,000 to support their 7-day trip to Calvert Trust, Kielder
‘No Limits’ is a West Lothian based Multi Sports Club for disabled children and young people. Formed in 1996 by Carers who identified a gap in local provision, it currently has a membership of 65 people who live in West Lothian, Falkirk and Edinburgh local authority areas. Over the years the club and its members have won numerous awards, including the 'Queens Award' for voluntary service.
The club provide a Boccia Club at Bathgate Academy sports unit on Friday evenings, a Multi Sports Club at Linlithgow on Saturday mornings and a Gym/Fitness session on a Sunday afternoon.
They also provide sporting opportunities for Archery at Beecraigs Country park,Ten Pin Bowling at Deer Park, Livingston and Fishing at Allandale Turn, West Calder.
The club also provide weekend activity break holidays twice a year to Aviemore and a week-long activity holiday to the Calvert Trust in Kielder, Northumbria which we've supported.
They also organise fundraising social events like Ceilidhs and Race Nights for the children with additional support needs and their parents and carers.
The Calvert Trust Centre's, based across England, offer accessible, safe and supportive environments for children with disabilities to enjoy exciting new sporting experiences and activities that push their boundaries.
The funding from Cash for Kids allowed the group to visit the Calvert Trust in Kielder in the summer. The holiday provided opportunities to take part in sailing and other water sports, indoor climbing, high ropes, king swing, archery, geocaching, buggy rides, shooting and zip-wiring.
At evening times a variety of activities took place including Karaoke, Bingo, Games and a Disco.
The group also organised a visit to the local bird of prey centre for an additional treat.
There was also access to a large hydrotherapy pool at all times which proved very popular with the families.
The families all reported enjoying the holiday with one child saying"it was her best holiday ever!"
No Limits are extremely grateful for the funding which we provided.
They said the holiday has given the children and their families an opportunity to push their personal boundaries by participating in activities that they have not tried before or to improve past performances. This has helped to improve their confidence and feelings of well being.
New friendships were established and the parents and children learned from each other by sharing experiences and knowledge.
We asked Paul at No Limits what message he would like to give to our fabulous supporters and he said...
"We really appreciate the help that Cash for Kids has given us to enrich the lives of children and young people with disabilities and just as importantly those who look after them."
"The fund plays a vital role in supporting the voluntary sector to access and provide opportunities to create special memories for the people they in turn support."
