Woman robbed at knife point in Craigmillar

Police are hunting for a man who robbed a woman at knifepoint on Thursday afternoon in Edinburgh. The 45 year old was grabbed by the culprit on Craigmillar Castle Road at around 2:40pm as she was crossing the road. He presented a knife and grabbed her handbag. The robber made off towards Cragmillar Castle with a three figure sum of cash.He is described as white, slim build, 5ft 5in to 5ft 6in, with a local accent and is wearing a dark hooded top with the hood up and drawstring tied around face, and a black scarf covering his face. He was wearing dark trousers and dark gloves. Detective Constable Andrina Cunningham said: "This was an upsetting incident for the victim and while she was not injured, her handbag contained a three figure sum of cash. "I'm appealing for anyone who was in the Craigmillar Castle Gardens area around 2.40pm on Thursday and who has information that can assist is urged to contact police on 10 or in anonymity through the registered charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. "
