Woman killed in two-car collision Midlothian

A woman has died following a two-car crash in Midlothian.

The crash happened at around 4.20pm on Friday on the A68, just south of the Cousland junction, north of Pathhead.

The 46-year-old died on impact when her blue Ford Fiesta, travelling south, collided with a northbound Land Rover Discovery Sport.

The 62-year-old male driver of the Land Rover was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where he remains in a serious condition.

The road from the Cousland junction to north of Pathhead was expected to remain closed for some time while investigations took place.

Sergeant Neil Inglis said: ''Tragically, this collision has resulted in a woman losing her life and a man being seriously injured. We're working to establish the circumstances surrounding this and anyone who maybe able to help is urged to get in touch as soon as possible.
