An Edinburgh cafe has introduced some creepy crawlies to its menu in time for Halloween.

Customers at Patisserie Maxime on Queensferry Street can now tuck into "treats" like lemon-salted grasshoppers, choclate-coated locusts, scorpions and mealworm brownies.

The range was created by owner Cyril Barthelme after he researched the nutritional benefits of bugs and found he was pleasantly surprised by the taste.

Insects are often consumed as a delicacy in certain cultures, but are not so popular in the western world.

We sent our reporter Hope Webb to the cafe to try some of the snacks.
