How Thursday's rail strike will impact Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife
Commuters face a second day of disruption
Commuters across Scotland are facing another day of travel chaos on the railways as the second in a series of strikes takes place.
A number of key services will be cancelled or reduced.
The Rail, Maritime and Transport union is in dispute with Scotrail in a row over the role of guards on trains.
The cancelled services in our area are: - Edinburgh – North Berwick/Dunbar
- Edinburgh – Aberdeen/Dyce/Inverurie
- Edinburgh – Alloa (a limited Edinburgh – Dunblane service will operate)
- North Berwick/Edinburgh – Glasgow Central/Ayr via Motherwell and Carstairs (Glasgow – Ayr services will operate as normal)
- Anniesland/Falkirk Grahamston
There's unlikely to be replacement buses for those services.
A number of services will be running on a reduced timetable.
These trains will run on a reduced service from 7am-7pm - on an hourly basis: - Edinburgh – Tweedbank - Edinburgh – Fife Circle - Edinburgh – Perth/Inverness - Edinburgh – Dundee - Edinburgh – Dunblane - Edinburgh – Glasgow Queen St Low Level via Falkirk High.
The new Borders railway will be one of the worst affected.
If you're travelling to work on the Edinburgh to Fife Circle route, you may have trouble. The first service runs at 6:37am, but there isn't another leaving the capital until 8:40am. The last service from Edinburgh will leave at 5:52pm.
A train has been added that'll leave Glenrothes with Thornton to make the return journey to Edinburgh at 6.57pm.
